The Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop #131

Happy FALL Y'all!

Farm Update- Whew... where has the time gone??? Fall is well underway here. Leaves are piling up allover the place. We are awaiting another winter storm to move in. That's about 6-8 weeks earlier than usual. This will be the second so far... We sure do need the moisture.

Our goat barn is coming along nicely, and there's so much to do before we bring home our first nigerian dwarf dairy goat buck this weekend.  (I confess I am VERY excited!)   I hope to have loads of cute fuzzy baby pictures, late Spring 2014.

My hens are in various stages of moult.  A few of them are sporting those fashionable chicken saddles to prevent sunburn and keep their backs warm.  It's been dipping down into the high 30's at night.

There were some great blog posts shared last week. THANK YOU.  Here are a few of the posts that made my tummy rumble.  Perhaps because they featured a few great seasonal food pairings.  I still have a few frozen servings of homegrown pumpkin puree in my freezer just for this season's best recipes... They look so YUMMY!

From the blog Amaranth and Kale comes a fabulous gluten free recipe for Sweet Potato Pie Brownies.  WOW!  Sweet potatoes are good for you, and for those of us with gluten intolerance this is a yummy treat we can EAT!
Lisa Steele of the blog Fresh Eggs Daily shared her wonderful Pumpkin Spice Swirl Cheesecake recipe. I made it and it when she first shared this last October and it was a BIG hit!

Finally, Mrs. H of The Heritage Schoolhouse blog shared her recipe for Mini Pumpkin Muffins HERE.  Don't they look delicious?  I am really looking forward to adapting her Gingerbread Scones recipe HERE into a gluten free version so I can enjoy it.

Thanks ladies for sharing these great recipes

  1. Do you have a pattern for those chicken saddles? If not for my outside birds I thought it might keep Bird warm when I take her out on the deck so she can be in the sun. It's getting a little nippy these days and she seems cold.
